About Coffee & Computers

Coffee & Computers is a Haringey/North London based community initiative offering free digital training and support to help local residents gets to grips with the online world.

We offer basic advice and guidance on using smartphones, tablets and computers in a friendly, supportive environment, enabling learners to access key online services and improve their digital skills and confidence.

All our sessions are free to attend, open to everyone, and supported by a team of volunteers who generously give their time and expertise to help learners achieve their digital goals.

The group started life in Highgate around 2015 and gradually expanded to other parts of Haringey and surrounding areas.  In response to the Covid pandemic in 2020 we moved our online (as much as possible) and then began to resume in-person sessions from Autumn 2021.

We continue to develop the services we offer and expand the number of sessions we host, and are currently running around 10-12 sessions a month across various locations, as well as other one-off talks or workshops for individual community groups or events.

In 2022 we registered as a Community Interest Company, Tech Together CIC, to help support further development of our services and make us a more (financially) sustainable organisation.  Coffee & Computers is still the “public facing” name, but all activities and management decisions are now overseen by the parent company, its board of directors, and an advisory group made up of volunteers, beneficiaries, and other key stakeholders.

We work closely with local VCS organisations and statutory services to help identify and support those that are digitally excluded, and are always looking to build on these relationships.  Our list of partners includes various Haringey Council teams, Public Voice, Reach & Connect, local GP services and social prescribers, housing associations (e.g. Clarion Housing), as well as numerous food banks, support services and other grassroots groups (e.g. Community Cook Up & Haringey Over 50s).

We are also members of the Good Things Foundation “Digital Inclusion Network” which gives us access to schemes like the National Databank, National Device Bank as well as funding grants that help to support our work and the services we deliver.
