How to organise a Zoom meeting
You can host either an instant or a scheduled Zoom meeting. To set up and invite guests to an instant Zoom meeting follow these steps.
- Select the large orange camera icon that says New Meeting.
- You’ll be asked for permission for access to the inbuilt camera on your device. Select Yes.
- A dialogue box will pop up and give you the options to “join with computer audio,” or “test speaker and microphone.” Choose Join with Computer Audio.
- Make sure you’re unmuted by selecting the microphone icon in the bottom left corner of the window on a PC (top right on a tablet.)
- Make sure others can see you by making the camera icon alongside the microphone item is not crossed out.. You can always stop video or mute yourself later.
- Click the Manage Participants button on the bottom of the video screen.
- Invite others to your meeting. Click the Invite button on the bottom of the Zoom app window then click “copy URL.
- Send that URL to people so they can join your meeting from any device they’re using.
- By default Zoom places guests in a waiting room. When somebody is in the room to room you as the host will be notified by a new onscreen Waiting Room button. Click on it and you can then admit your guest to the meeting. You can control the advanced settings for waiting rooms through your Zoom accounts advanced settings on Zoom’s website.
