Video Calling with FaceTime

What you need

FaceTime is software that is proprietary to Apple and can only be used for end-to-end calls where both parties have an Apple device.  FaceTime software is automatically installed on the  iPhone, iPad and  Mac series of computers.

If you are uncertain whether you have an up-to-date version of FaceTime, the newest version for your Apple device can be downloaded from the App Store.*

To get started

  • Open FaceTime on your iPhone or iPad or Mac.
  • Tap the + button.
  • Type the name, email address or number that you want to call.
  • Enter more names, email addresses or numbers if you want to create a group call.
  • Tap Audio or Video to start your call.

*iPhones and iPads running iOs 9.3.5 or earlier are fine for one-to-one calls, but cannot handle group calls.
